Bryan Lee Largent was born on Sept. 24th 1979 in Long Beach, California to his parents Dan and Cindy Largent. Raised in Lakewood, he and his older brother Aaron led a typically happy childhood with the tightest of bonds. Around age 3, Bryan's parents divorced, to later both remarry and pick up a few more close siblings, Carlie, Keri, Freddie, and Jason. They all reside in the same county. Growing up in a fairly competitive family, Bryan raced quarter-midget cars nationally and won many titles. In the off-season Bryan spent his summers bare footing and water skiing on the Colorado River with his family.

At the early age of 16, Bryan decided he didn’t want to live under his parent’s rule and started living with friends, commonly under less than desirable circumstances. Not too long after, Bryan began bouncing around to different jobs, even covering shifts for a piercer at a tattoo shop. It was in 1999, his son Kody was born.

It was also 1999, when Bryan walked into his local smoke shop, Head Hunters, where owner and mutual friend, Alex, introduced him to Jeff. At the time, Jeff was running a glass shop called Sweet Water productions. Bryan was always interested in going into the shop to check out the newest and latest designs in glass. This was a time when glass blowing was becoming hugely popular, glass artists were coming up and gaining recognition in a rapidly growing industry. Something big was definitely going on and not that many people understood the art or even knew about its potential and endless possibilities.

“Glass blowing was a new world, a whole new thing, I always loved the creative process.” ~ Bryan Largent

From an early age, Bryan was greatly inspired by his artistic and creative grandfather, Carl D. Largent, a skilled master craftsman and carpenter. Bryan’s love for his grandfather and the creative process stimulated and influenced him to pursue glass blowing.

“Once I met Jeff, I was blown away. There was so much to learn and I got inspired.” ~ Bryan Largent

Bryan threw himself into the world of glass and began his new career at Sweetwater Productions under Jeff, who took him under his wing and taught him the basics of his molten ways. Without any significant knowledge or experience about glass blowing, he worked his way up the chain from apprentice to managing the entire shop, which consisted of 21 employees at its peak.

For the most part, Bryan’s hard work and dedication has been the driving key to his success, but he also attributes all his knowledge, skills and know-how of his craft, to his mentors and friends. He considers himself a student of the game and is constantly learning and growing as an artist.
Having worked at Sweet Water productions for 7 years and after the industry scattered and the dust settled from the DEA’s Operation Pipe Dreams, Bryan packed up and moved into his garage to continue his passion. After a couple years, he decided to vacate the garage and get behind the torch to manipulate glass for the rest of the world. At this time he also welcomed a new addition to the family, daughter Bryana.

Bryan has since collaborated with such glass-smith stars as Ben Wilson, Hacky Sacky, Dosher, D-Wreck, Jeff Tanner and Hops, creating amazing pieces of functional art. This fire-thrower is now at the forefront of TripleDonut scientific glass technology. His Inline and Disc-Diffuser bubblers are melting their way into mainstream glass-blowing culture.
Today, Bryan is a glass blower that specializes in rare and custom hand made, hand crafted water pipes. Creativity and innovation are what sets him apart. Anyone who has picked up his work has recognized how clean and seamless his welds are.

In the future Bryan looks forward to collaborating with new and upcoming artists to create cutting edge pieces that push the boundaries of contemporary glass blowing. Although he has been in the industry over 11 years, he is constantly inspired by the possibilities that the future holds and continues his fascination with the art. He finds inspiration in family, friends, color, style and the pursuit of perfection in glass and in life.

Bryan is currently a 15-year Huntington Beach local. He is a consummate family man and enjoys spending most of his free time at the river with girlfriend Brittany, his children and 2 dogs.
